BenQ X12000 4K UHD DCI-P3 LED Home Cinema Projector

BenQ TRUE Addressable 4K, X12000 Home Theatre Projector

The World's First DLP 4K UHD LED Home Cinema Projector

Free upgrade from W11000 to X12000

August 7th - 2018

Reference-Grade DLP 4K UHD Home Cinema Projector with Digital Cinema Quality DCI-P3 Color Performance for Authentic Movie-Going Experience. Generating 8.3 million razor-sharp pixels, X12000 combines revolutionary high-brightness LED and BenQ-exclusive CinematicColor technologies to reach the ultra-wide DCI-P3 color gamut for perfect DLP picture quality to rival a commercial digital cinema with seamless integration into any home screening room.

HCC's  Review opinion is the X12000 is hard to beat, especially if you're seeking TRUE 4K. Using LED lamp technology allows BenQ to more accurately vary the brightness on a per scene basis (Blacker blacks). This is often done with a slower iris. Added advantages are less heat, thus cooling noise, virtually maintenance free and very little chance you'll need to replace the lamp module.

To quote a 3rd party review:-

"..So the BenQ X12000 has some amazing strengths and an excellent price. But some
weaknesses as well. But in the end, when it comes to affordable UltraHD on the big
screen, it and the X12000 are the only games in town. So far."

"..I was just about to pay for the home cinema bundle when my son asked what does the word enhanced under the 4K logo mean? The salesman then explained that it was not actual 4K.. Lucky via my son I found out before I paid for what I thought was a real 4K projector!"

The BenQ W11000/X12000 are the only THX-certified DLP 4K UHD projectors.

See also BenQ W8000 (Review) it's not 4k but we can't tell the difference between it and the much more expensive Epson EH TW8300/TW9300. Note: The Epson TW8300/9300 projectors are not TRUE 4k addressable like the BenQ W11000. BenQ by adopting a 1-chip solution doesn’t have to deal with pixel alignment issues that other multi-chip projectors face.

  • At time of writing the BenQ W11000 is thousands cheaper to buy than any alternative TRUE 4k projector, it's the only one that's HD THX certified.
  • No Epson projector in the TW series are true 4K addressable and thus they are not certified as 4K.
(They are fantastic projectors, just not TRUE 4K)
  • The X12000 is similar to the W11000 whoever it uses a new HLD LED light source.
  • BenQ may release updates to firmware in 2018 and may change the models to W11500 and X12500 respectively.

  • 4K UHD with Razor-Sharp True 8.3 Million Pixel Detail
  • Distinct Clarity Without Artifacts from Panel Misalignment
  • Superb CinematicColor DCI-P3 Color Accuracy for Unmatched Digital Cinema Experience
  • ColorSpark HLD LED Technology for a New Level of Brightness for Well-Lit Environments
  • H/V Lens Shift & Big Zoom Lens for Installation Flexibility
  • Instant On/Off and Lamp Maintenance Free

BenQ W8000 W11000

BenQ is proud to introduce the flagship W11000 4K UHD and X12000 reference-grade THX certified home theatre projectors.

Equipped with big zoom and extreme H/V lens shift capabilities, its installation flexibility transforms any home into a true cinema. Additionally, visitors of ISE will witness the announcement of a new entry in BenQ’s Home Entertainment series.

The W11000/X12000 are both painstakingly engineered, built, and individually calibrated to deliver precise Rec. 709 colour and performance for an authentic movie-going experience the way film-makers intended. And with five optional lens choices, W11000/X12000 fit right into any home cinema room.  The new LED lamp of the W11000 is called the X12000. This is not a deal breaker for the W11000 as the W11000  is less expensive and comes with unlimited hours on the 3 year lamp warranty along with 3 years on the projector. Like all LED/lasers the X12000 will lose efficiency over time so we're not sure that the smarter option is buying a cheaper projector that you can change the lamp on. The up side will be the ability to modulate the lamp's brightness in real time rather than using a iris.

DLP® 4K Ultra-HD Technology
Using the same Scientific and Technical Award®-winning* TI DLP Cinema® technology that is used in more than 8 out of 10 digital cinema theaters today, DLP Products is now bringing 4K UltraHD to the market with a 0.67-inch digital micromirror device (DMD). The DLP 4K UHD chipset combines the fast switching speed of the DMD with advanced image processing to create a more affordable solution.

BenQ W8000 W11000

With just a quick connection and the push of a button to start presenting, InstaShow allows multiple presenters to immediately switch wirelessly projecting Full HD content without driver installation or extended cable runs. Its 5GHz 802.11ac WiFi operation ensures absolutely smooth wireless streaming without lag or buffering.

It's all done with mirrors!

Put simply, the BenQ W1000 & X12000 Home Theatre projector uses excess bandwidth to point the DLP mirrors at two different pixel positions on the screen (microseconds = very quickly) on every frame.

BenQ W1000 projector vs Epson EH TW9300

It's a bit like 3D insofar as each frame is split into R+L but in this case each frame is split into half of 4k then the other half. This allows display of a 4k image with completely independent pixels. The BenQ 11000 & X12000 can legally (unlike the Epson's EH TW9300) use the 4k logo.

Mounting the W11000/X12000 to the ceiling

Specifications are incorrect the mounting screws are now M5 (x 11mm) not M4.

We can supply custom made low profile lazer cut mounts for $120.

Colour just like the Cinema

The DCI-3P color space features a color gamut that is much wider than sRGB. The X12000 is capable of displaying the DCI P3 color space in its entirety.

Note the BenQ W8000 often mentioned in the same sentence is the 2K version, that said we can't pick the difference from the new Epson TW9300.
