BenQ W2000 Home Cinema Projector Review

1st November 2016
A lot of projector for the money.

The new best buy in projectors is the 2016 projector of the year:
BenQ W2000 Home Cinema Projector features the international HDTV standard "709'
to guarantee accurate replica of cinematic colour as the director intended.  Amazing performance for the price.
BenQ W2000 ProjectorEditors' Choice HCC Editors' Choice - Home Theatre, Accurate Colours out of the box
We've waited a while to see what feedback we got before giving BenQ new W1110 and W2000 projectors our Editors' choice award.
The reason for this is BenQ are going through a sea change with their latest projector models, test results are one thing but the rate of DOA units (dead on arrival) are another possibly more important KPI. (key performance indicator)..

We're pleased to report (touch wood after removing hat) not one unit has been faulty as at 1/5/16.
Any brand can suffer from a lapse in build quality as Panasonic did with the last of the PT-AE8000s and once that happened it was game over in our opinion regardless of specifications and reviews.

Keep up the good work BenQ you're going to give "them" an even bigger scare!

The new BenQ W2000 aimed at the Home Cinema market, winning awards along the way..

BenQ W2000 Projector

It's faster but not faster than light
With a new 6X RGBRGB colour wheel with precision-tuned coating and colour segments.
The above image is simulated, nothing works with sunlight shining on it but the video below gives you a good idea what to expect.
The faster the colour wheel the less artifacts, 6 X is moving really fast compared to the old 1 X projectors so the artefact problem is almost a non event now.

Enough is enough
There is enough ANSI lumens power (2,000 count them) to use the W2000 with the lights on, you can also move it around from room to room easily that's why there are speakers inside the projector body.

Politically correct colours
ISF certified BenQ W2000 Projector

Displays that conform to Rec. 709 can reproduce colours correctly in all images through an entire movie.  While most projector manufacturers choose a saturated colour tone bias to increase colourfulness, resulting in colour accuracy loss, the W2000 achieves the Rec.709 colour standard.  The process of building a projector includes many variables such as lenses, lamps and colour wheel coating.

BenQ claim that during the production Line Quality Control all Three colour adjustment stations in the production line perform final checks on every single unit. This would explain their industry leading DOA count of late.

By combining an interchangeable six-segment colour wheel with DLP BrilliantColor™ Technology, BenQ projectors accurately reproduce hard-to-match colours such as skin tones and precisely render Rec.709 and sRGB standards.

Position it (almost) anywhere

Lens shift +/- 10% vertical with a short-throw means you get a 100 inch image from 2.5 to 3.3m.
Zoom range of 1.3:1 makes installation of the W1110 easy, you can zoom into the screen edges with ease.

Wireless (Option) & HDMI

HDMI is best. You can also stream uncompressed 1080p content, even in 3D with a wireless range up to 100 ft if you get the kit.

The BenQ W2000 like the lower specification W1110 offers a lot of performance and features for the price.

The power consumption is just 210 Watts (we tested) in Eco mode which should give a massive lamp life of 6000 hours without effecting your viewing much at all. The noise level is under 40 dB(A) so if you're not sitting right underneath the projector you're going to be impressed with how little fuss the W2000 delivers such a large colour accurate image.

With installation flexibility and fast image processing then check out the overall value being offered by BenQ and you should be impressed.
